Tom Bailey is the Executive Director of the Little Traverse Conservancy headquartered in Harbor Springs. Serving Chippewa, Mackinac, Emmet, Cheboygan, and Charlevoix Counties, the conservancy’s mission it to protect the natural diversity and beauty of northern Michigan by preserving significant land and scenic areas, and fostering appreciation and understanding of the environment. One of the first people to lead a regional land conservancy in Michigan, Tom has been an adviser to many other conservancies and has served on numerous statewide advisory panels to help guide parks and recreation development.
Last fall, we talked with Tom about his 30-some year career as a conservationist as well as his passions for hunting, fishing and everything outdoors. In this very short segment of that interview, Tom talks about the challenges facing conservationist and resource managers.
